Lernort Bibliothek / La biblioteca apprende
Libraries as places of lifelong learning are in Europe not taken yet sufficiently into the responsibility of information politics - in contrast to the anglo-saxon countries -.
In our knowledge society libraries are demanded, to change from a retaining institution, obligating the cultural inheritance, to a competent per-active information literacy learning place.
Therefore the libraries are confronted with high tasks: structural and administrative changes must be developed along with new personnel concepts.
The contributions of this book from Italy, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland show - according to the political surrounding field - very different institutional advanced training models. They report on ideas and concepts for a new, innovative management for the employees, for whom the change does not mean threat, but a positive challenge. Only then the library can become a learning place for all users.
Target groups: This book is interesting for all librarians, for advanced training, and cultural and educational politicians in the European region.
